We are looking forward to the second BiotechMeeting of 2018, which will be held at the Novio Tech Campus in Nijmegen. BiotechPartners is teaming up with Briskr, a collaboration program with 9 partners in the Nijmegen region.
At this BiotechMeeting, three innovative companies will be presenting. Furhtermore, we will be discussing the future of the Dutch biotechnology Ecosystem, and the role a partnernetwork can play in that.
After the successful pilot in 2017, BiotechPartners is officially launched in 2018. The first BiotechMeeting will be organized on the 14th of June at the Bio Science Park in Leiden. For this event, BiotechPartners will collaborate with the Science Meets Business , offering a large networking event and barbecue after the BiotechMeeting.
The BiotechMeeting will commence on Thursday the 14th of June at 14:00 hours. Three entrepreneurs will present their innovations and calls for help. The exclusive BiotechMeeting will be finished at 16:30 hours, after which the Science Meets Business café will start at 17:00 hours. At this café three presenters will discuss their innovation, research or company. Subsequently, a networking event and barbecue is organized where approximately 200 companies, entrepreneurs, scientists and students are expected to be present.

During 2017, we have piloted BiotechPartners as a spin-off from MedtechPartners, which has been a highly successful innovation network for more than 10 years (www.medtechpartners.nl). Together with Health~Holland, we have been able to translate this concept from medtech to biotech. During two BiotechMeetings we were able to match six biotech innovations with a broad network of BiotechPartners. The pilot underscored the success of the concept, which was recognized by both the entrepreneurs and the partners.
Tuesday October 10th marked another BiotechPartner Meeting, held at Pivot Park in Oss.
The brand new biotech entrepreneurship network event, which aims to improve the connectivity between innovators and the industry and give entrepreneurs the chance to ask for help in an informal setting, was organized for the second time and grew even bigger!
Following the success of the first meeting in Leiden, three innovative young companies took the stage to inform the crowd on their ways to create a better future. Not only did the entrepreneurs get the chance to inform the industry about their innovations, but they were able to pose questions or problems they encounter while running their business.
A quick overview of our hosts for the day, PivotPark, was given by director Mirjam Mol. After that, the stage was all set for the innovators. Three great ideas where pitched, from novel ways to culture cells in 3D (Michael Ponomarenko from PIMBio), 21st century solutions for lab-equipment (Max Green from Buxenus) to innovative ways to cure tropical diseases like Dengue or Zika (Daniel Girones from Protinhi).
At the end of the day, while enjoying a drink at the network event, all three entrepreneurs were able to look forward to at least 4 matches each!
With only 2 meetings, 6 entrepreneurs, more than 40 partners and already 25 matches made, the potential of BiotechPartner Meetings is clear as day. We can't wait to see even more partners and innovators at the next meeting!
During the first meeting of the biotech entrepreneurship network event BiotechPartners was hosted by Leiden University's TTO Luris and held in the Leiden based startup-incubator Hubspot!
Executive Director of Health~Holland, Prof. Dr. Nico van Meeteren, and Director Knowledge Partnering at Luris Rob Mayfield opened the meeting.
The goal of the event? To improve the connectivity between innovators and the industry, but also to give entrepreneurs the chance to ask for help in an informal setting. Resulting in a biotech innovation boost!
During the morning session, three entrepreneurs with the drive to innovate the biotech industry had the opportunity to pitch their company and pose questions or problems they are confronted with while running their business.
Three great ideas where pitched, from exciting new biomolecule transduction methods (Marco de Boer from NTrans Technologies), new ways to solubilize drugs (Niall Hodgins from SeraNovo) to innovative ways of creating the 21st century's first new antibiotic (Andreas Bastian from AGILeBiotics).
The result? All three entrepreneurs were matched with multiple partners that want to support and help them with their questions and problems, a successful day to say the least!
The event underscored the success of the concept, which was recognized by both the entrepreneurs and the partners.
The next BiotechMeeting is on the 10th of October at Pivot Park, so we hope to see more partners and entrepreneurs joining our program!
After ten years of the successful innovation network MedtechPartners, the concept has been translated from medtech to biotech. This includes the organisation of BiotechMeetings, where entrepreneurs and potential partners from industry are matched.
How? The entrepreneurs end their pitches with specific challenges to which the audience can directly reply.
The ultimate goal of these meetings? To improve the connectivity between innovators and the industry, but also to give entrepreneurs the chance to ask for help in an informal setting. The result is a biotech innovation boost!
